Ohio Valley Member Chosen For 2012 Seniors World Team Championships

The USTA has announced that Gabriel Venter from Blue Ash, OH will rep will represent the United States at the 32nd ITF Seniors World Team Championships. The nation’s top tennis players in age groups 35+ to 55+ will compete against teams from 35 counties coming from around the globe February 6-11, 2012. The event will be held at seven different sites in the San Diego, CA area. Over 1,000 athletes are expected to participate. Read More

Stan Malless, USTA/Midwest Section Past President, longtime tournament director of the U.S. Open Clay Court Championships in Indianapolis and two-time president of the U.S. Tennis Association, died Thursday at the age of 97. Malless was nicknamed Indianapolis' Mr. Tennis. Read More

Midwest Boys Capture USTA Winter National Championships

Jared Hiltzik, 17, of Wilmette, Ill., won the boys’ 18s title at the 2011 USTA Winter National Championships on Monday, and Paul Oosterbaan, a 16-year-old from Kalamazoo, Mich., captured the USTA Boys’ 16s title. Many of the nation’s top junior tennis players competed in eight USTA National Championships in five cities last week. Read More
